We are located in Scotts Bluff County, western Nebraska, near the old Victory Hill Schoolhouse. It is said that not many people get into goat dairying on purpose, the herd just grows and it seems logical to take it to the next level. This is what happened to us . Even once the idea blossomed, it has taken several years and much preparation to get to the point we are at today. We have received guidance from the two other goat dairies in the state but they are both over 7 hours away. We are kind of on our own out here and paving the way for this industry at our end of the state. Some people have asked, "Why goats?", and my answer to that is they make me laugh everyday. I've worked with people and with animals that don't bring me joy and I don't want to anymore. Goats are just funny, one minute I yell at a doe for kicking over the milk pail and the next minute she is wearing the grain bucket on her head like a hat and I laugh out loud.
Come to the farm to visit the animals and shop in the farmstore. We have farmstead artisan goat cheese and other products grown and produced on our farm, including fresh eggs, raw honey, milk fed pork, chevon (goat meat) and in-season produce. Do your local shopping here! We carry other products from area producers as well. Because we are a working farm the store hours vary due to the farm schedule.
Currently we are offering tours and the next step to our project is to finish a certified kitchen and meeting room to offer seasonal dinners and a rentable space for cooking classes and other events. This meeting space will have viewing windows into the cheesemaking facility and into the milking parlor.
